About Me

We are a family living in the Milwaukee burbs. Peter is our first child, born Summer 2009. We are excited and blessed to be his parents.
I use this blog primarily as a journal of my thoughts. It's also handy to keep in touch with family and friends who have moved away. I am a crafter by heart, love to read a good book, and enjoy the ever tiring job of Motherhood, and Wife Life.

Prayers are answered, I have proof

I don't blog much about my faith in Jesus Christ and my testimony of that faith. I am inspired to do so now. As you can see from our previous posts we have been struggling with sleep around here. Since we moved to our HOUSE (yes we are now home owners), Peter has refused to sleep in his crib. So 2 months have gone by with my prayers everyday & night being that we are blessed and to guide us back into a night time routine. Thanks to my friend Tricia for listening to my constant complaints and giving me encouragement and advice along the way. I prayed every day as to what method would work best for our family in getting Peter back to sleep, for the whole night, in his crib. Without waking up screaming numerous times. As he had in the past during our 1st attempt. After about a week or so, I had my answer: let him cry it out and DO NOT go in there. Now, to any mother, this is so awful I couldn't imagine how that would work, and better yet, how I was going to get through it. So I continued to pray, hoping my answer would change. It didn't (I knew it wouldn't deep down). So, for the next few weeks I changed my prayers to ask for his guidance and support to get us all through this. For a sense of peace to be with us all, safety for Peter and peace for me. Each night I continue to pray for the blessings I have in this life and continue to ask for guidance and peace for this trial. The first night I kissed Peter good night and told him that we loved him and would see him in the morning. He cried for 20 minutes and slept the rest of the night, with out waking, until 6am the next morning! I was sure it was a fluke, and that he must have been so tired that he just fell asleep. However we are almost a full week with this new method & yes, he still cries for about 20 minutes once you put him down, but then it's off to slumber-land until 5:30 or 6 in the morning. I know that it really has so little to do with us, and that Heavenly Father was preparing him for this step all along. And us too. We are blessed to be parents, and I am blessed to have the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life. The gift of prayer is the greatest gift of all, because we all have it if we chose to use it. My love to you all.

small victories as a mom

He loves to "read" books and the paper.
So, if I have talked to you in the last few months, I'm sure you are aware of my lack of sleep. We moved the end of April and our little buggy has been sleeping with us in our bed pretty much since. And that we tried to get him back in his crib for 2 weeks with little to no results. Leading us back to square one. He is back in bed with us again. So....why am I titling this "small victories"?? Because Peter has never been much of a napper, however he has started taking 2 hour naps in the am and about 1 1/2 hour naps in the pm. On me, which means I am trapped reading or watching bad daytime TV. HOWEVER: as I update our much needed updating blog, he is in his crib- asleep! no fuss, he fell asleep in the car and transferred to the crib, while only waking momentarily. So....small victory for mom today!
He has grown so much and is such an active little boy. I know my prayers will be answered and that he will learn to sleep on his own again. For such a great night time sleeper he was, I had never envisioned that we would be where we are now.
We have had to sadly say good bye to our cat of 5 years. She is very sweet and sociable; so if you or someone you know would be interested in getting a cat of your own, she's at the humane society in Wauwatosa, WI. Her name is Astraia, she's 7 and you can see pics. of her at wihumane.org Unfortunately she wasn't a fan of our move and Peter becoming more of a priority. Jealousy is her middle name, although she was not violent in anyway. Just was letting us know that she wasn't happy anymore with us splitting our time & attention for her.
