About Me

We are a family living in the Milwaukee burbs. Peter is our first child, born Summer 2009. We are excited and blessed to be his parents.
I use this blog primarily as a journal of my thoughts. It's also handy to keep in touch with family and friends who have moved away. I am a crafter by heart, love to read a good book, and enjoy the ever tiring job of Motherhood, and Wife Life.

Thursday

Merry Chirstmas & some catch up!

Yes, Peter is 4 months already, soon to be 5mos. Time goes by so fast. He is such a good boy, I don't know how we got so lucky. He sleeps through the night most nights, and when he doesn't he eats and goes right back to sleep, only waking 1x. He is a very happy boy, all smiles and giggles. Peter is so strong, as he loves to sit up in stead of laying down. He can almost roll over, and is good at pushing himself up from the tummy position. However prefers to sit up and loves to be held. He is quite the talker too, he will interact with anyone who gives him the time.

Peter starting eating veggies and cereal over Thanksgiving and really loves to eat anything we give him. He has only tried green beans, peas, and sweet potatoes, but he does such a great job. I can't believe that he opens his mouth when he wants more. Sometimes we aren't fast enough. Enjoy the video, I hope it works. I haven't posted any videos yet. :{

Christmas is here and we are so thankful for our family. I am truly thankful for the love and support I have surrounding me daily. Being a mom is the most rewarding gift there is, however it is never done; therefore it can be tiring. It is such a blessing to have family and great friends near by to lend a hand or ear when needed. I love you all, and we wish you the best Christmas Season!

Monday

Blessing and Baptism

Ok, so since my hubby and I are of differing faiths, we had to do double duty for Peter. So the month of October was a little busy with both of these religious celebrations. First he had his blessing, where a very good friend of ours graced us with the honor of doing that for us. Thanks Mike and all those who were apart of that. We greatly appreciate it!

The following weekend we had his baptism and open house. Peter was such a good boy; with out any crying or fussing during the ceremony or service. Great job, buddy! Joe's good friend from grade school was declared Peter's Godfather, and Joe's sister as Godmother. Jen was able to come home for a couple of days to be a part of this special day. And was able to hold Peter for the first time since he was born. We had a small party for family and friends at Joe's dad's house. It was really nice to visit with everyone and have those that hadn't met him yet get a chance to say hi. Thanks for all that came. We love you all, and are so glad that you were able to celebrate with us.

And there just isn't any way I could leave out this special picture of the two dapper boys. Peter 1 and Peter 2. I will never have to worry about our little boy's attire, with his dad and "uncle" around. Kelley, we will have to reign them in one day, I'm sure. :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SYDNEY!!!

My niece turned 2 today, and so we went to Green Bay to have a little celebration. My mom and I made this butterfly cake for her special day. It is always fun to try new styles in the cake world. I will never be as good as Duff (Ace of Cakes), but it sure is fun none the less. I would never make it there or with my Cake Girls in Chicago. I would love to have a cake made by them! We were a little worried how Peter would do in the 2.5 hour car ride there, but he was a champ sleeping the whole way there, and most of the way home. Great job Sweet boy! It is great that he is such a lover of car rides, it usually puts him to sleep with in a few minutes. Thanks for driving Bubba.

Sydney holding her new
cousin, Peter. This was the
first time my brother and
her got to meet him. :)

I walked into the living room and Sydney was sitting on the floor ripping into her presents that were there waiting. No one was around, so I started rounding everyone up because she was apparently ready. :() You go girl! And she was even willing to share the wrapping and box with her brother.

Happy birthday Neenee!! We love you!!!

Monday

Peter's 2 months!

We are proud and astounded that our little boy is 2 months old!!! He had his 2 month check up today, which meant his first set of vaccine shots. :( It is so much harder on a mom than on him, as I will always remember that moment and with in a few hours he has forgotten it completely.
Our Little boy is: 24" long & 12.3 lbs. What a big boy!
At this age he loves the following:
car rides,
being held
feeding time (he's eating 5 oz each feeding every 3-4 hours)
the pacifier
his swing
the bjorn or sling
walks outside
morning time with Daddy
sitting up (which he can't do on his own yet, but doesn't like to lay)
smiling
and starting to "talk"

what he hates:
tummy time
loud motorcycles
waiting for the bottle to warm
gas
the sound of velcro

We love you, Peter J.

Thursday

ALL WORTH IT

Well, everything you hear about your life changing once your little one is here is so true! Peter is 3 weeks old already, and I can't believe how fast time really does go by. Before I know he will be months old and wanting to crawl. All of the things I have had to say good bye and hello to over the past few weeks.

Say Good Bye to:
sleeping through the night
having a meal with my husband
having free hands/arms
running a quick errand
cuddling the cat at night (as my lap is occupied)

Say Hello to:
washing bottles
greeting visitors
lugging another 10 pounds everywhere you go (car seat included)
changing diapers
bathing a small slippery noodle in the whale tub over the sink
giving kisses to our sweet boy
staring at a sleeping baby, instead of napping yourself

SO U THINK YOU CAN DANCE

Does this woman annoy anyone else?

I have become a fan of the dancing on So You Think you Can Dance, however I am very thankful for my cable box that records for me. This way I can watch the competitors, and listen to Nigel and the other judge, however can fast forward through the screaming/screeching Mary. If she could talk in a normal volume, I would be able to listen to her, as I feel what she says is valid a lot of times. If her comments were more like Paula Abdul on "Idol", I wouldn't even care to hear what they were, as I feel her comments aren't valuable to judging.

I do not have a favorite yet, but am enjoying the talent. Over the next few weeks I'm sure I will have a favorite or even a few favorites. I, myself am not a good dancer, but love watching others perform with emotion and strength.

Friday

Baby Shower

THANK YOU!!
I have a wonderful group of friends that came to celebrate the upcoming birth of our baby boy. It was so much fun to visit and relax with such amazing women. As the day was coming to an end I started to get really sad, as so many of those celebrating with me won't be here for the birth. With so many of their husbands graduating medical or dental school they'll be moving on to residency. This means that their time in Milwaukee has come to an end. I wish them the best of luck, however we will be missing their smiling faces each week.

"The Boy's" room

The nursery is ready and waiting for our little one to arrive. We agreed on paint and finished painting, over the course of a week, with the help of my parents. Thanks Grammy and Bubba. :) A few more details to add, like the pictures on the wall, and the window treatments, that my mom is also making will pull it all together. My mother in law is going to recover our glider as well, so a few final details. However it looks like a baby's room.

My due date is not until Aug. 5, but we are too excited to wait any longer to get everything ready. Joe and I are so excited to meet our little boy, even though we are still fighting over his name. We have been calling him the following:

1. The Boy 2. Beeboo 3. Peter (Joe's pick) 4. Henry (My pick)
Now one might ask why not just combine the names we favor, but they each have a middle name to go with it. Henry James, or Peter Joseph. Please help us out, if you dare.

We have washed his little clothes and put them in his drawers according to size and item. All the onsies are grouped on one side, while the sleepers are on the other side of the drawer. Outfits are in another drawer all together. My mom has already commented that he has more clothes than I did at age 4. She has also stated that after he is about 2 months old, she wants to take another peek at his drawers to see if they are still as organized as they are now. I make no promises, however it looks nice and works for now. What they will look like after nights with no sleep, with a pile of laundry to do, and a little one demanding all the attention I can only imagine. As I said, I make no promises!

Tuesday

New to this

So apparently I will need one of my super blogger friends to show me how I'm really suppose to do this. I will have to ask someone for a little more guidance to get this up and running at full speed.

Very early this morning, around 3 am, I got up to take my daily trip to the bathroom and promptly drug myself back into bed to pull the sheets up, get comfy and close my eyes. To enjoy some more sleep, however I was unable to turn my brain off. What was I thinking about? Nothing important, so many mundane thoughts running loose in my head. So, as I lay there thinking of these things, I make a list of my Walmart shopping for the day to follow. In the real morning, as my husband is getting ready for work, I tell him about my lack of sleeping earlier this morning. I proceed to tell him that I was thinking of the following:
Where everything from the spare room is going to go, now that we are making that room into the nursery.
How Everything is going to move out of the basement to make room for the things we will move from the said bedroom, as I am not a very helpful mover.
How all of this gets done, and how I can't wait to find out what we are having to get started on this humongo project.
How I feel super behind in all of my household duties.
When will the play I am currently directing start to fall together?? How far behind we are as a group. When will the kids realize that it will be here before we know it?

All of this at 3 am, no wonder I can't seem to get myself comfy and relaxed enough to sleep. aggh! Everyone tells me this is the time to be selfish and get as much sleep as I can, to let the little things slide. However, if I do that, how does everything else get done. Clearly I can't sleep anyway, so I might as well start listing my shopping lists, and thinking of all the things that have yet to be done.

Ok, so I know, why if I am worried about these things am I sitting here blogging rather than working on those things I obviously dwelling over? Well, isn't the answer obvious? Because it is much more fun and gratifiying to blog than to scrub dishes or bathrooms.

Best wishes to all my expecting friends, as I know you have or will think these thinks. :)
